Amarone Trabucchi D'Illasi 2011

Amarone by Trabucchi d'Illasi tells the story of a successful strip of land, where the strong winemaking vocation meets the passion and the experience of the Trabucchi family, working in the area of Illasi since the early '20s. The project of Trabucchi appears immediately clear: the family wants to interpret the traditional model of Amarone, with a high recognizability of the starting variety, from crops deeply respectful of the natural factors, in one of the most representative areas of Valpolicella. Illasi is in fact one of the oldest wine production site in Italy: in the postwar period his reputation as an area with high wines grew because of a gradual abandonment of other specialized crops due to its stoney conformation. The wide range of scents that characterize the wines produced in Illasi is not foundable in the Oriental valleys or in the territory of Valpolicella Classico: for this reason Trabucchi decided to establish its activity here, recognizing the high value of soil and climate in the area. The geological structure of the ancient vineyards of Trabucchi in fact allows an optimal drainage of rainfall; the exposure to south/south east provides an excellent solar radiation, while the balanced temperature range and the foothill streams from the mountains Lessini are beneficial, not only for the cultivation of the vine, but also for the drying of grapes. It is in this very special terroir that Trabucchi cultivates, since 1924, the grapes Corvina and Corvinone in a traditional way. The result is a deep Amarone, whose uniqueness is a guarantee of an extraordinary durability.
